I've been to the Panto. Oh no you haven't. Oh yes I have!

This afternoon we went through to Bath to see Jack and the Beanstalk at the Theatre Royal. It was our first visit and I was taken with the main house. Chris Harris put in another brilliant performance as Dame Trott and I was particularly amused by Jon Monie as Simple Simon.

It's been a few years since we went to the pantomime. We saw a few at the Bristol Old Vic when the girls were young. But then the Old Vic switched to staging plays at Christmas. They were very good but didn't generate the same atmosphere as the panto. It's proper family entertainment. Something for everyone and jolly good fun!

So today was a bit of a trip down memory lane.

  1. Glad you enjoyed the pantomime and the Theatre Royal at Bath is lovely. I do quite enjoy pantos and this year our eldest grand-daughter is taking part in the local one, so that is a must-see. Last year went with daughter and 3 year old grand-daughter to see Cinderella but had to leave early as little girl was upset at the ugly sisters being so unkind! Thought we'd give it another year before we try again.

  2. Happy New Year SJA - I guess pantos can be quite scary for the very young, especially if the audience around them becomes involved. We're at the other end of the scale where our daughters are growing too old for it. So it was good to be able to go together again this year, perhaps for the last time.
